Code of Ethics & Professional Conduct
1. Purpose
This Code of Ethics & Professional Conduct sets out the principles expected of GISS employees, directors, auditors, assessors, trainers, consultants, committee members, partners, and representatives when performing work connected to GISS activities.
2. Core Principles
All persons acting for or on behalf of GISS are expected to uphold:
- Integrity, honesty, and professional responsibility
- Objectivity, impartiality, and independence of judgment
- Confidentiality and responsible handling of information
- Respect for human dignity, diversity, and inclusion
- Compliance with applicable laws, standards, and policies
- Transparency in communication and professional dealings
3. Professional Integrity
Individuals must perform their duties with due care, competence, and diligence. They must not knowingly make false, misleading, exaggerated, or unsupported statements regarding certification, audits, assessments, training, or advisory work.
4. Confidentiality
Confidential information obtained during audits, assessments, certification activities, training, or business engagements must be protected and used only for authorized purposes. Disclosure is permitted only where required by law, contract, or approved GISS procedures.
5. Fairness and Respect
GISS expects respectful professional conduct toward clients, applicants, colleagues, stakeholders, and the public. Harassment, discrimination, intimidation, retaliation, or abuse of authority is not acceptable.
6. Gifts, Benefits, and Improper Influence
Personnel must not offer, solicit, accept, or provide gifts, payments, favors, hospitality, or other benefits that may compromise, or appear to compromise, professional judgment, impartiality, or independence.
7. Reporting Concerns
Suspected breaches of this Code should be reported promptly to GISS management or the designated compliance contact. Reports will be reviewed fairly and handled with appropriate confidentiality.
